To my Mother

To My Mother by Edgar Allan Poe
Because I feel that, in the Heavens above,
The angels, whispering to one another,
Can find, among their burning terms of love,
None so devotional as that of "Mother,"
Therefore by that dear name I long have called you-
You who are more than mother unto me,
And fill my heart of hearts, where Death installed you
In setting my Virginia's spirit free.
My mother- my own mother, who died early,
Was but the mother of myself; but you
Are mother to the one I loved so dearly,
And thus are dearer than the mother I knew
By that infinity with which my wife
Was dearer to my soul than its soul-life.

If Cooper likes Tarah and Tarah likes Cooper just leave it alone. Then if thing start to change and Cooper bumps Tarah at lest you were right about Cooper. Then maybe Tarah Will start to listen to you more often.

I think what the author is trying to say is that he love for his wife is like the love for his mother and men really love there mothers because they take care of them but to even compare your wife with your mother is something I will never do. He must really love his wife to do something like

i think the author is writing a letter to his mom and he's comparing the love of his mom to his wife.

I think that Edgar Allan Poe wrote this poem because he love his mother, and he like the love his mother gave him and he want to give the same love to the one he loves. Also he probably comparing his mothers love because he want to show his wife the same love. Also his wife probably did not have a mom and he wants her to feel like she did. Also he just probably misses his mother love.

The author in this poem is talking about love compared to his mother and his wife. Also he is talking about how his mom died at an early age and he’s sad about her deaf.

yo I think that he is combining his love for his mom for his wife and the example i think he is doing that because he loves his girl just like his moms the line that tells me that is when he say by infinify with which my life my wife was dearer to my soul than its soul life.

What the author is doing in this poem is that his comparing his mother to his wife. I noticed it when it said ‘But you are mother to the one I loved so dearly, And thus am dearer than the mother I known. By that infinity with which my wife. When he said that I knew that he was comparing his wife with his mother. When I started to think what was the poem about it was really about his mom and his wife.
So when he said he loved his mother dearly he was saying he loved his wife dearly. When he said ‘my wife
Was dearer to my soul than its soul-life’ he meant that his wife’s soul was more important than his free soul. So his wife is more important than him.

In the poem the author is comparing the love he gives to his wife and to his mother. In line eight it said and fill my heart of heart’s , where death installed you in setting my Virginia’s spirit free. That is saying he gives the same love to his wife and other. Another example is in line thirteen and fourteen it said by that.

What the author is doing in the poem is that he his comparing his mother to his wife maybe because his mother is in heaven also his wife is probably in heaven to. In verse 4 and 5 it’s saying that he is calling his wife his mother while they both are in heaven.

What I think the author is doing is trying to compare his wife to his mom.

He's comparing the love of a mother to the love of a wife. I think it is impossible because a mother is worth much more than a wife. On the part when it says he loves his wife as he loved his mother i thought it was crazy, my love for my mom is not close to the love I have for my wife,I love my mom more. If you grow up and hate your mom, you love her, even though you hate her deep inside you love her. If you grow to be a millionaire, thank your mom for life and love.

I that the author is trying to compare the love of his mother to the love his wife, (You who are more than mother unto me, and fill my heart of hearts, where Death installed you), (My mother- my own mother, who died early, Was but the mother of myself; but you are mother to the one I loved so dearly,) so why would he say that he loves his mom more than a mom if she’s all ready dead?.

What the author is doing is he is telling his love from he had to his mother now since his mother has gone into heaven now and he is now showing the love that he had for his mother to his wife the evidence is that Edgar Allan Poe said “Are mother to the one I loved so dearly, And thus are dearer than the mother I knew”

What I think the author is trying to say is that his wife loves and cares for him like his mom did for him and the reason I say this is because in the poem it says are mother to the one I loved.

There poem is talking about how they lost
There mother and how she is looking down to her daughter and how there mother is in heaven looking at her family and how they grow so fast.
